Sophisticated Hearing: What’s New About Hearing Health In 2023?

At Sophisticated Hearing, we are excited to announce the Grand Opening of our new state-of-the-art hearing care center. The office will be moving one-half mile from our previous location in Ho-Ho-Kus. The New address is 531 N. Maple Avenue in Ridgewood, NJ. The expanded facility has ample parking and is handicap accessible. The large space includes two sound-treated booths for hearing health and testing and multiple consultation rooms with the newest Audiology equipment available on the market.

What Is in Store for 2023?

Since the industry is continuously changing and new technologies are being created, it is difficult to anticipate exactly what hearing aid technology will look like in 2023. But we will likely continue to see hearing aids incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) and other cutting-edge technology.

Take Good Care of Your Ears

Are you aware that approximately 15% of adults in the United States report some difficulty hearing?  Hearing loss is the third most common chronic condition in older adults. Hearing loss is an invisible condition that generally occurs gradually over many years. Because of this, it is possible that a person has hearing loss and may not be aware of it.

Ear Health is For Life

We often make excuses for why we didn’t hear someone: “the restaurant was too loud”, “I wasn’t paying attention” or we accuse someone of not speaking clearly. Because of this, it is important to have your hearing tested regularly. The American Speech Language and Hearing Association recommends individuals with normal hearing have a hearing test every ten years. Once you turn fifty years of age, it is recommended that you have your hearing tested every three years. When someone has hearing loss, a hearing test every 1-2 years is recommended.

Our Commitment to You

Sophisticated Hearing has been and will continue to be dedicated to assisting you and your family with your hearing care needs. We offer evidence-based and gold-standard practices for hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, and tinnitus management. Dr. Olson is in-network with many health insurance networks including Aetna, Cigna, Medicare, United Healthcare, and United Healthcare Oxford. Even though not every health insurance plan covers hearing-related services, Sophisticated Hearing is happy to check your insurance benefits to see what coverage is available to you.  As an independent practice, we are committed to your individual needs and work with most of the major hearing aid manufacturers.

When Should You Consult with an Audiologist?

If you have questions or concerns about your hearing health, please contact Sophisticated Hearing to schedule an appointment.  Your hearing test and consultation with Dr. Olson will be performed in an unrushed, professional, and caring manner. As an audiologist, Dr. Olson can explain the auditory system and your hearing results so that you have the knowledge you need to make the necessary personal decisions regarding your Hearing Health.

When you are Ready to Hear…We are Ready to Help.

COVID-19 Protocol

As you may have previously seen on our website, Sophisticated Hearing has and will continue to take all necessary precautions to protect your safety from the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Your overall health is our top priority, and we want you to know that during these unusual times, we are open for our Current and New patients to help you manage your hearing loss.

Here’s what we’re doing to protect you:

  • We have taken additional precautions such as scheduling all appointments with significant time gaps between them to ensure you do not come in contact with other patients (and to give us ample time to clean and sanitize our spaces between appointments). Our appointments are still one-on-one and patient focused to specifically minimize any risk to you while providing the care you deserve.
  • We are following all NJ State and CDC guidelines to ensure your safety at all times.
  • To simplify device cleaning and repair, we are offering Curbside Drop Off and Pick Up for your hearing instruments. This will give you the service you need while minimizing your potential contact with others.
